The Justice for ALL Dinner wouldn't be possible without the efforts of many volunteers who comprise our Dinner Committee!
Read on to see the types of roles they play:
COMMITTEE MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES
To promote awareness of social justice issues and the needs of the poor in the Diocese of Camden:
- Assist in nominating, vetting and selecting the awardees for the event who have demonstrated their commitment to social justice.
To promote Catholic Charities in our region:
- Identify and cultivate partners in our community who are committed to the Mission and Vision of the organization and invite them to participate in the event.
To raise funds for direct assistance to our clients in the communities we serve:
- Identify additional prospects for the Justice for All Dinner.
- Host cultivation dinners or receptions, as appropriate.
- Cultivate and solicit potential donors, including personal solicitation visits.
- To support the infrastructure of the event throughout the year
- Make a gift of time, talent and treasure to the Justice for All Dinner
- Provide oversight and guidance for the Justice for All Dinner
- Identify candidates for leadership and create strategies to recruit and engage
- Endorse the marketing, communications, nominations and fundraising plans and goals
- Promote the Justice for All Dinner and Catholic Charities mission at all times and provide information, advice and encouragement
- Provide guidance on additional literature and collateral materials
- Receive regular reports and communication and make recommendations as necessary
- By example the Dinner Committee members will set the pace for activity and raise sights for other prospective committee member, partners and donors.
COMMITTEE STRUCTURE
The Dinner Committee accomplishes its work through its sub-committees which include:
- Sponsorship
- Marketing/Communications
- Event Logistics
- Nominations
Each Sub-committee has a chair or co-chairs, who will also serve on the executive dinner committee.
While each Sub-committee has specific goals, all members are asked to be aware of the responsibilities noted above and are asked to contribute insight, suggestions and ideas for the entire work of the Dinner Committee.
NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE
This committee has the overall responsibility for selecting the honorees for the Justice For ALL Dinner and liaising with our Honorees post nomination.
Nominations Committee Members-at-Large – Responsibilities
- Evaluate potential honorees
- Solicit and collect nomination forms
- Research and vet nominees
- Recommend honorees that embody the attributes of our award categories
- Liaising with and coaching our selected honorees through the event year
- Recruit new committee members
SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE
This committee has the overall responsibility for reaching the annual event fundraising goal by rating and evaluating major new prospects and cultivating relationships with current and former supporters of the event.
Sponsorship Committee Members-at-Large – Responsibilities
- Identify and solicit prospective donors
- Rate and evaluate major new prospects
- Sell Program Book Ads
- Participate in solicitation and cultivation events as needed
- Make personal calls on prospective donors
- Provide personal support
- Recruit new committee members
MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
This committee has the overall responsibility for promoting the event and the mission of the organization through various media outlets including print, web, social & television.
Marketing/Communications Committee Members-at-Large – Responsibilities
- Create, maintain and execute communications timeline
- Write press releases, public service announcements, photo captions & press kits and distribute materials to the appropriate outlets
- Maintain the event’s internet presence through the event website & Facebook
- Create and produce multimedia needs for the night of the event
- Recruit new committee members
EVENT LOGISTICS COMMITTEE
This committee has the overall responsibility for planning and executing the Dinner and any ancillary events that are used to promote the event and raise additional funds.
Event Logistics Committee Members-at-Large – Responsibilities
- Work with the event venue to secure dates and select menus
- Pick décor, centerpieces and entertainment if needed
- Participate in invitation and program book design and print process
- Implement additional events as needed to help raise funds and promote the dinner
- Recruit new committee members
TIME COMMITTMENT
- Meet in-person once a month (1.5 hours) to monitor the progress of the Justice for All Dinner, and as deemed necessary, via conference calls.
- Attend select events, meetings, and other gatherings as needed.
- Between meetings, have the ability to participate in conference calls and reporting sessions as needed
- Estimated total time commitment 25 – 30 hours
