Disaster Recovery

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Camden, continues its work in long-term recovery with two staff dedicated full time to working with people affected by the storm, with two other staff also providing assistance.  The Agency’s Assistant Director, Jennifer Dyer, has assumed responsibility for the management of Catholic Charities’  Hurricane Sandy recovery program.

Catholic Charities staff are participating in 7 long-term recovery groups, which are organized within each of the six counties of the diocese as well as in Atlantic City.

Of the 12 most heavily impacted counties in New Jersey, four of them are within the Diocese of Camden and include Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem counties; along with Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Atlantic County is among the three most heavily impacted counties in New Jersey.

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Camden will also be participating with its four sister agencies in New Jersey in a New Jersey funded Disaster Case Management Program.  This grant award was announced on Friday afternoon, March 22 by Governor Christie.  Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton will be the lead agency and sub-contract with its four partners.  In the Camden Diocese, we expect to receive up to 7 case managers as a result of this grant.

If you were affected by the storm and need assistance please call the Hurricane Sandy Assistance Hotline at 856-342-4145.  This number remains active and is the best way for anyone affected by the storm to contact us.
