Prison Ministry PDF Print E-mail

The Prison Ministry of the Diocese of Camden functions as a reflection of the Church’s Social Justice Teaching, particularly as it applies to the Criminal Justice System. The principal approach of the ministry are the principles of RESTORATIVE (as opposed to Retributive) JUSTICE.

The ministry serves as a resource for the parishes and faithful of the Diocese of Camden, providing information and ministry opportunities for clergy and laypersons in the correctional institutions of the diocese. Specific goals of the ministry include, but are not limited to direct pastoral and sacramental ministry to incarcerated men and women, educating the parishioners of the diocese about the nature of incarceration as well as the needs of prisoners and their families and recruiting and training clergy and lay contact and volunteer ministers. If you need more information on Prison Ministry please contact Thomas Lynch.

Catholic Charities provide vital social services to people in need, regardless of their religious, social, or economic backgrounds.   We provide social services to, advocate for, and empower the poor, oppressed or vulnerable.  We do this on a non-discriminatory, non-sectarian basis throughout the six southern New Jersey counties.
