|Statement by NJ Bishops on In-state Tuition at Public Institutions of Higher Education |
On Nov. 12, the Catholic Bishops of New Jersey called for the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly to pass in-state tuition legislation that would allow certain documented and undocumented immigrants, who meet a set of strict criteria, to access in-state tuition rates at New Jersey’s public colleges and universities.
On Nov. 14, a representative from the New Jersey Catholic Conference testified before the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee in favor of S2479, an in-state tuition bill.

|Catholic Relief Services in the Philippines Responding to Typhoon Haiyan|
On Fri., Nov. 8, Super Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippines. This storm, the equivalent of a Category 5 Hurricane, with sustained winds of over 195 miles per hour, caused immense and catastrophic devastation across the Philippines. Death tolls are expected to reach the thousands.
The Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development reports that there are approximately 9.5 million people affected by the typhoon over 9 regions, with 3 million people located within 30 miles of the direct path. There are already over half a million people displaced, with numbers expected to rise. The hardest hit areas are without water, electricity, food, and other supplies. Catholic R [ ... ]

Catholic Charities and Catholic Relief Services have a strong partnership. In the Camden Diocese, Catholic Charities works in partnership with Catholic Relief Services’ Northeast office in Radnor, PA, to help raise awareness of the work of CRS around the world as the American Bishops international relief and development agency. CRS has many different programs available to all Catholics in the Diocese of Camden, including the Lenten Rice Bowl Program.
CRS Rice Bowl is Catholic Relief Services' Lenten faith-in-action program for parishes, schools and families. The program invites individual Catholics to live in solidarity with our poorest and most vulnerable brothers and sisters [ ... ]
|Colorado Flooding: Three staff from Camden travel to help recovery efforts|
Colorado is currently under a state of emergency due to catastrophic flooding which has left eight people dead and tens of thousands of people displaced. Catholic Charities USA has been on the ground since Tuesday, Sept. 17 and has asked for assistance from the national network of Catholic Charities agencies to assist Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of Denver respond to the needs of those impacted by the flooding.
