St. John the Baptist Pre-Natal Clinic of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Camden, offers comprehensive prenatal care to those financially less fortunate women who are pregnant or in need of gynecologic health care.

The clinic works as a team with Osborn Family Health Center and Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. Our goal is to provide good prenatal care while empowering our clients to take an active part in their health care. The following is a listing of the current programs and services offered to our clients.

1. Complete prenatal care under the management of board certified obstetrician/ gynecologist. Care includes the required laboratory studies as well as management of high risk pregnancies.
2. A team approach and plan of care is developed for each client. The plan of care is a documented tool that addresses the medical, social, psychological, financial, nutritional and educational needs as they pertain to the current pregnancy of each client.
3. Nutrition counseling is provided at the clinic. Specialized counseling is provided as needed per individual client.
4. A social worker is available to see each client on her initial visit to the clinic. A social/psychological assessment is made and referrals will be made as needed for specific problems. Home visits are made by visiting nurses.
5. Referrals are made to other agencies for services needed but not provided by the clinic. These include: emergency food, clothing, pediatric medical care and referral to Camden County human services agencies.
6. Team conferences are conducted as needed with the physician, dietitian and a social worker. Team conferences are also conducted with the Nursing departments at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.
7. Childbirth education is provided at the clinic. The topics include:
   • Anatomy and physiology of pregnancy
   • Nutrition including breast and bottle feeding
   • Labor and delivery, including post-partum care
   • Infant care
8. Clinical experience is provided to Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing and Rutgers University School of Nursing.
9. Nursing rounds are made on every patient after the delivery. Appointments are made for post-partum appointments and the first appointment is made for the baby.
10. Quality assurance is done on a regular schedule. This is to ensure the highest quality of nursing care. Quality assurance establishes and organizes ongoing monitoring and evaluation activities that will lead to further improvement of patient care.
